Halloween with Heroes Trunk or Treat.

And the traditionally-popular trick-or-treating in the E. Tugalo Street neighborhood near downtown Toccoa. The residents of this neighborhood outdo themselves every year decorating their homes and yards, and it is a popular location for not only children trick-or-treating, but others coming to look at the decorations.

WNEG News spoke with Toccoa Chief of Police Jimmy Mize about both the Halloween with Heroes event, and the Tugalo Street trick-or-treating.

He said the Halloween with Heroes would take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rose Lane Park, would give children the opportunity to not only participate in trick-or-treating activities, but to see a number of emergency vehicles up close, and meet local first responders.

He asked that cars coming up Big A Road into the Tugalo Street neighborhood slow down all evening, not just after dark. He said they are setting up a crosswalk at Paul Anderson Park from the Clinic parking area, and an officer will be stationed at the crosswalk to help direct traffic and ensure the safety of the kids.

Tugalo Street will be closed to traffic, and traffic will be slowed in front of First Methodist Church, he added, and the side streets around First Methodist for the Truck-or-Treat event there.

He asked that drivers be very vigilant and careful, and be extremely as dusk falls and after dark to watch out for children who may be in the streets.

He also cautioned parents to keep close track of their children while they trick-or-treat.

WNEG Wishes everyone a safe, happy and Halloween evening, with all treats, no tricks, and all of the best candy in your trick-or-treat bag.
