A Toccoa man is behind bars after running from police

A Toccoa man was arrested after fleeing from police.

That’s according to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize.

He says that on November 28, officers with the Toccoa Police Department responded to a call at 149 Hilltop way in reference to a suspicious person entering an automobile.

While in the area, one officer witnessed the suspect attempting to enter another vehicle at 704 Skyline Drive.

As the officer attempted to stop the suspect, Christopher Ryan Crumpler took off on foot and ran into the wooded area behind the residence.

According to Mize an extensive search for Crumpler was then initiated.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit were called in to assist the Toccoa Police Department in the search.

After several hours, Crumpler was apprehended off Collins Road.

Christopher Ryan Crumpler, 28, of Toccoa was arrested and charged with multiple counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony, entering an automobile, obstruction of officers and possession of schedule IV narcotics.
