Ivey Delivers Annual SC Development Authority Annual Report

During the Stephens County Board of Commissioners’ meeting on July 23, Stephens County Development Authority President Brittany Ivey presented the Authority’s annual report to Board members. 

Ivey thanked the Board for their support of the Authority and its efforts, and she updated Board members on the 32 main projects that the Authority was involved in during the past year as well as projects they are currently working on.

She talked about the job investment totals for the year, and included information on the SungEel Project. 

Workforce housing is a priority project for the Authority, and Ivey updated Board members on efforts to increase housing in the community for area workers.

She also mentioned the Hotel Feasibility Study completed earlier this year, funded jointly by the city and count.

Ivey said the several potential new industries to see if Stephens County can match their needs and requirements. 

Ivey highlighted the Authority’s work with existing industries to support their growth and job creation within those existing industries. 

Next, Ivey spoke of the Authority’s work with the Stephens County School System to increase the workforce pipeline locally and to support the local Workbase Learning program and the CTAE Pathway program. 

The Authority is increasing their workforce-focused efforts within the school district to include a larger focus on eighth graders, she said.

Ivey then circled back to the organization’s efforts to improve the county’s stock of workforce housing.

Following Ivey’s presentation, Stephens County Board of Commissioners member Chuck Wright spoke, thanking the SCDA for its hard work on behalf of the community.
