Scott Low and The Southern Bouillon headline this weekend’s Ida Cox event

Southern Rock act Scott Low and The Southern Bouillon will be the headlining act at the Ida Cox Music Series event tomorrow, July 29.

Local musicians, Klassic Duo, will be the opening act this week. Music starts at 7 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain, the show will be relocated to The Historic Ritz Theatre.

Scott Low and the Southern Bouillon is based in Clayton and provides a mixture of covers as well as original music, said Toccoa Event Coordinator Misty Richardson.

The Ida Cox Music Series, named after famed Toccoa Blues musician Ida Cox, features free music in Downtown Toccoa every Saturday in June, July, and August. The music starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until approximately 10 p.m. each Saturday night.

Richardson told WNEG News that this year’s Ida Cox music series is having a very successful season, with record-setting attendance.

She added that the businesses downtown are taking advantage of the popularity of the series.

Events in the Ida Cox Music Series are free of charge. Bring a lawn chair or other seating options, and enjoy live music, food, and drinks in a relaxing atmosphere, Richardson said, adding that coolers are allowed, but outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the downtown entertainment district.

The series, which runs through the end of August, still has a number of exciting acts coming up, Richardson said.

Next weekend’s featured band will be Brass Animals out of Atlanta, who will continue the New Orleans theme of Friday’s Sip and Stroll Masquerade party and a free showing of The Princess and the Frog at the Historic Ritz Theatre.
