4th annual gameshow fundraiser slated for February

A popular fundraiser showcasing Stephens County’s brightest 5th graders is back for a fourth year.

Family Connection of Stephens County announced that it’s “Are you Smarter than a Stephens County 5th Grader?” game show fundraiser will be held on Feb. 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Stephens County High School’s Tugaloo Center.

Admission the night of the event will be $5 for anyone over age 12.s

The event features a team of Stephens County 5th Grade Academy students aiming to put teams of adults in their place by outshining them in academics.

Family Connection Executive Director Allyson Warren said quote “The students look forward to this each year. They get a real kick out of being smarter than the adults.”

Warren added that these are not only some of the smartest kids, but also the most talented.

In previous years, the crowd has been treated to everything from on-stage acrobatics to solo performances.

In order to make the event a success, Family Connection is looking for both sponsors and teams to compete against the 5th graders.

Teams of 2-3 can be made up of adults from churches, civic groups, businesses, families, etc.

Warren stresses while adults should be a bit intimidated by competing against these students, it’s all in good fun.

“The idea is to showcase how smart the STUDENTS are so we aren’t expecting you to know all the answers.” Warren says.

Family Connection of Stephens County is a 501c3 non-profit so all donations are tax-deductible.

Warren said everyone is invited to what should be a lot of fun, family entertainment.
