Indians Win One-Lose One

There were three baseball teams competing at Stephens County High School on Saturday, and just like the other two the Indians had their ups and downs.

In game one of the day, McIntosh High School, of Peachtree City, jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a 14-1 victory over Stephens County.

The Chiefs scored 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and added 3 more in the third on Alabama bound-Andrew Pinckney’s 3-run home run.

Stephens County’s lone run came in the bottom of the third on a Jordan Page sacrifice fly that scored Isaiah Martin, but McIntosh would score the next 8 runs to roll to the victory.

McIntosh pitcher Ty Butler got the win on the mound. The Indians Davis Swenson got the loss falling to 1-1 on the season.

In game two of the day, Hart County rode the arm of pitcher Casey Tallent to defeat McIntosh 6-2.

In the nightcap, Indians pitcher Gabe White threw a complete game shutout allowing just 2 hits and striking out 10 to lead Stephens County to a 6-0 win over Hart County.

The Indians banged out 10 hits in the win and shutout the Bulldogs for the 2nd time in a week.

Stephens County started the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Ben Hobbs singled with 2 outs, moved to 2nd on an Eli Wenger single, and scored on Aaron Chappalear’s base hit.

The Indians added 3 more runs in the 3rd when Martin led off with a double, Page reached on an error, Cole Snyder singled home Martin, and Wenger doubled home Page and Snyder.

The Indians got insurance runs in the 6th inning when Wenger reached on a passed ball, moved to 2nd on a Chappalear sacrifice bunt, and scored on a Dawson Sorrells single. After Cayden Maxwell was hit by a pitch, Sorrells scored on a Swenson single.

White moves to 2-0 with the win. Will Dean took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Stephens County’s record is now 4-2-1 and they will host Cedar Shoals on Tuesday at the Reservation. Airtime on WNEG is set for 5:45 P.M. with first pitch scheduled for 5:55 P.M.
