Officers still looking for suspect involved in Thursday’s shooting

As previously reported, on Thursday, officers with the Toccoa Police Department responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of Prather Bridge Road and Rickman Street.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, as his officers were enroute to the call, they were advised by dispatchers that a male subject had been shot.

On officers arrived on scene they blocked off Tugalo to Craig streets for several hours while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab Unit processed the scene.

The victim was identified as 17-year-old Spencer Reason, of Toccoa.

Mize said that Reason was transported by EMS to the Stephens County Hospital where he was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical’s trauma center.

Several witnesses were interviewed by investigators throughout the evening, Thursday.

However, as of Friday afternoon, no motive has been determined.

The case is active and ongoing.

WNEG News erroneously reported that a suspect involved in the shooting had been arrested and charged; however, this was incorrect.

As of today, July 30, no suspect has been arrested.
