3 Toccoa men arrested for drugs after matching BOLO description

Three Toccoa men are behind bars after a BOLO (Be on the Look Out) was issued for a man wearing a coat and riding a bicycle.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on Friday morning, officers were dispatched to an area on Hill Street in reference to shots fired.

A description had been given of a man in a coat riding a silver bicycle.

Shortly after, officers made contact with Douglas Eric Mayfield who fit the description.

Mize said that Mayfield had a probation warrant against him with the city of Toccoa. He also was found to have a clear glass pipe with white residue in it consistent of Methamphetamine.

Mayfield, 47, of Toccoa was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects. He was then transported to Stephens County Jail without incident.

During the same time as the initial arrest, other officers in the area of Franklin and Sage streets   made contact with another man, identified as Zachary Scott Sheriff, who fit the description of the BOLO.

Sheriff, 24, of Toccoa was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Also, officers near the parking lot of Bell’s Restaurant, spotted a man, identified as Bryant Lashaun Mayweather, who matched the description.

Mize said that when officers attempted to stop Mayweather, he began struggling with them, and attempted to ditch his stash.

Mayweather, 34, of Toccoa was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession and use of drug related objects and obstructing a police officer.
