248 SCHS seniors expected to graduate Friday

Stephens County High School will celebrate 248 seniors, set to graduate on Friday, with Commencement Exercises.

During the recent Stephens County Board of Education meeting, Stephens County High School Principal Scott Kersh announced the Class of 2019 Valedictorian and Salutatorian as Monique Gautreaux and Nikko Beady.

Kersh says the Class of 2019 has the estimated potential to earn over $5-million in scholarship monies.

“In total, the Class of 2019 has the potential to earn over $5-million in scholarships. That $5-million being invested in the students of Stephens County and that’s really exciting,” Kersh said.

Kersh says he is expecting 248 seniors to graduate on Friday; however, he adds that that number is fluid and could possibly change between now and then.

The SCHS Class of 2019 Commencement Exercises will be held on Friday, May 24, at 8 p.m. in the Stephens County High School Stadium.

Tickets are required, and gates will open at 6:30 p.m.

The stadium will not be accessible the night before or the day of graduation to reserve seats. All graduation traffic will enter the high school parking lot from White Pine Road.

Incoming traffic from Sorrells Road will be reserved for graduates and faculty only.

Following the ceremony, all traffic will exit using Indian Trail to Memorial Drive.

Handicap parking and seating will be available; however, the handicap parking area at the Concession Stand will be closed for parking and will be used for drop-off only.

Again, gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with the exercises beginning promptly at 8 p.m. on Friday.
