2 Toccoa women arrested after attempting to deal drugs to an investigator

Two Toccoa women were arrested after one, unknowingly, propositioned an investigator to purchase drugs.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, an investigator with his office received a message on his agency cell phone asking if he wanted to buy marijuana.

Shirley noted that based on the nature of the text, it was immediately assumed by the investigator that the individual texting did not know they were speaking to law enforcement.

The investigator continued to exchange text messages, and arranged a meeting to purchase the marijuana.

However, shortly before the scheduled meeting, the suspect attempted to back out on the drug deal; however, through further investigation, investigators obtained information on the phone number, which led them to an address off of Stephens Drive, in Toccoa.

Once investigators arrived at the residence, they noted that the vehicle, parked outside, matched the description which had been sent via text message, and had two occupants.

One of the occupants was the individual investigators suspected had sent the text messages.

After further investigation with the individuals in the vehicle a search lead to a quantity of marijuana, scales, and the cell phone used to text the investigator.

Katelyn Martin, 19, of Toccoa was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. As of this report, Martin has been released from the Stephens County Jail after posting a $15,000 bond.

Stormey Brasher, 38, of Toccoa was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, use of a communication device to commit a felony, and possession of a schedule-IV controlled substance. Brasher was denied bond and remains in the Stephens County Jail.

Shirley adds that it is rare to have street dealers dialing 1-800-Investigation Division offering to sell you marijuana.
