2 Toccoa residents charged with cruelty to children, possession of drugs

Two Toccoa residents are behind bars after officers received word that drugs were being sold from a residence on Park Street.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, officers responded to 102 Park Street, the home of Kiuno Dantae Richie and Loyeeta Shemier Latner, after receiving a tip that there were drugs being sold at that residence.

Inside the residence, officers found two children who were removed from the home by officials with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS).

Mize says that during the search of the residence, officers found the home to be in disrepair and filth.

Officers also uncovered a large quantity of marijuana, drug related objects, a large sum of money, and two weapons.

According to Mize, Richie claimed all the uncovered items were his.

Richie was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony; cruelty to children – criminal negligence; receipt, possession or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon; and manufacture, deliver, distribute, administer, sell, or possession of marijuana.

Latner was also arrested and charged with cruelty to children – criminal negligence.

Following their arrest, both Richie and Latner were taken to Stephens County Jail.
