2 suspects arrested in New Hope Road Burglary

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office has made two arrests, in connection to a burglary that was reported on New Hope Road, in Stephens County, recently.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, his office responded to a residence on New Hope Road, February 18, after the property owner discovered someone had broken into a storage building on the property and stolen several items, including tools, automotive batteries, scrap metal, and various other items.

Within a short time of making the report, the homeowner was able to locate a portion of his property at a local business.

The property located had been sold as scrap metal.

Shirley says his investigators responded to the business to assist with retrieving the stolen property.

Employees at the local business were able to provide Investigators with the identification of the suspect who sold the items.

As investigators were collecting the information, the suspect, identified as Jonathan Carlton Kinsey, 44, of Toccoa and Trey Nelson Brock, 40 of Martin arrived back at the business to sell more scrap metal.

Investigators made contact with Kinsey and Brock and were able to identify other items in the bed of their truck that belonged to the New Hope Road property.

During the encounter with Kinsey and Brock, a quantity of Methamphetamine was found on Brock’s person.

Kinsey was arrested and charged with burglary in the 2nd degree.

Brock was arrested and charged with burglary in the 2nd degree, possession of methamphetamine and violation of probation.

Both subjects are being held at the Stephens County Jail, awaiting a bond hearing.
