Two arrested in Toccoa for trafficking Meth

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley announces recent arrest of two people for trafficking methamphetamine.

According to Shirley, on November 19, at around 12:30 p.m. deputies with the Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Pond Street for an equipment violation.

Both the driver and the passenger were individuals that were known to the deputies to have a history of drug involvement.

Based on this and their nervous demeanor, deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle deputies located packaging materials, scales, and approximately 4.18 ounces of methamphetamine.

Deputies also located two bags of marijuana and more than $3000 cash.

The driver, identified as Kenneth Leon Kell age 56 of Toccoa, and passenger, identified as Timothy Wilmont age 56 of Mt. Airy, were arrested and transported to Stephens County Jail.

Both are charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Wilmont was also charged with Using a Telecommunication device to facilitate the sales of Methamphetamine after a search of his phone produced evidence of previous narcotics transactions.

Both persons were denied a bond by a magistrate judge during a first appearance hearing.
