Toccoa woman arrested after Sheriff’s Deputies located drugs in her motel room

The Stephens County Sheriffs Office arrested a Toccoa woman after law enforcement were alerted she was using a room at a local motel to sell drugs.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on April 13, his office arrested Tashia McCollum. He says the arrest was made after investigators became aware that she was using a room at the Quality Inn to sell methamphetamine and various pills.

The investigation revealed that McCollum had left a 12-month court ordered drug treatment facility.

As investigators arrived at the motel, Shirley says they made contact with McCollum and other several individuals.

A subsequent search of the room resulted in the seizure of 26 grams of methamphetamine and various scheduled narcotic pills and morphine patches.

McCollum was arrested and transported to the Stephens County Jail. She is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of schedule II narcotics, four counts of possession of schedule III narcotics, and two counts of possession of schedule IV narcotics.

Shirley says McCollum remains at the jail pending a bond hearing.

He adds that the evidence seized has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab to be analyzed to identity the chemical components.
