Toccoa man walks away from domestic dispute, leads Sheriff’s Deputies on chase

A Toccoa man is behind bars after leading sheriff’s deputies on a brief chase.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, the incident occurred on Monday, November 11, after deputies with his office responded to the area of Skyline Drive to assist the City of Toccoa in locating a male suspect who had walked away from a domestic dispute.

The suspect was later identified as 23-year-old Austin Outz.

Deputies in the area soon spotted a person matching the description of the suspect, but he fled away on foot.

Shirley said that his deputies later received information that Outz may be hiding in the woods behind a residence on Hilltop Way.

Deputies were able to locate Outz and discovered, in his vicinity, two large plastic bags containing marijuana.

It was at this point that deputies arrested Outz and transported him to the Stephens County Detention Center without any further incidents.

He is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a scheduled I controlled substance, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, battery under the family violence act, and a probation violation.

Outz remains in jail on a bond of $22,000.
