Still Time to Donate Cleaning and Other Supplies to Send to Storm Victims in NC

Streets in Whiteville, NC are completely flooded from Florence

Only a couple days are left if you are considering making a donation to the P230 Foundation to help hurricane and flood victims along the Carolina coast.

Flood waters from Hurricane Florence continue to rise in parts of North and South Carolina and more rain is expected to hit the coastal areas this week.

The P230 Foundation is continuing its effort to collect cleaning supplies, bottled water, and tools to send to flood ravaged areas in Columbus County near the coast.

The non-profit group is working in conjunction with Quality Foods in Toccoa asking people to donate $10 to put together buckets filled with cleaning items for flood victims.

P230 founder founder Steve Paysen said Monday donations have been coming in steadily since last week, but more is needed.

“Things are going well with the buckets,” he said. “We could still sell some more buckets and I have three pallets of equipment being donated. We’re also putting bleach on the truck, so it’s going well,” he said.

Paysen said they could also use more financial donations to help cover the cost of shipping those supplies to Whiteville, NC.

All of the donations will be delivered to a church in Whiteville where they will then be distributed to area churches along the coast.

Volunteers will be loading the donated supplies on to the truck Thursday afternoon and will leave Friday morning for North Carolina.

In addition to cleaning and building supplies still headed to North Carolina, Paysen said volunteers from Georgia Baptist are also on their way up there o help feed those devestated by the storm.

“There are a lot of organizations doing the feeding,” he said. “There’s a crew from Stephens County headed down to the Myrtle Beach area from Georgia Baptist. There’s a group from the North American Mission Board there that’s feeding thousands a day.”

Now, if anyone is also interested in going to North Carolina as a volunteer to help with the clean up and rebuilding, Paysen said they can call him for information.

“The can contact me directly and I can put them in touch with pastors,” Paysen said. “I

have a network of about 12 pastors in that area that I work with alot. All of them have families that are affected. If there’s a church that wants to send a mission team I can put them in touch with a good pastor that has people that need help right now.”

Again, you can buy a bucket of cleaning supplies at Quality Foods on Big A Road for $10 or to make a monetary donation go online to www.P230.org.

Cleaning items, tools, bleach and bottled water can be donated through Wednesday.
