Steve Stovall Music Scholarships Awarded

The Steve Stovall Music Scholarship Foundation will send several Stephens County High School Band members to Summer Band Camp.

The Foundation was established in 1974 in memory of Steve Stovall, who was student conductor of the band. More than $250,000 has been given over the Foundation’s 50 years of existence to support the Stephens County Band Program and its students.

The students receiving music scholarships to attend UGA Marching Band Camp are the drum majors for the upcoming season, Skyler Zheng and April Lerma.

Elijah Geoghagan will attend Leadership Camp; and Malik Wilson will attend Percussion Camp.

Additional funds from the Steve Stovall Music Scholarship Foundation will pay for private lessons for band students, and offset the cost of attending MidFest for middle school in December and JanFest for high school in January held at the University of Georgia.

Brent Stovall, chairman of the Foundation, says it is due to the generosity of the community that these funds are available.

Brent Stovall also says he greatly appreciates the generosity of 1 st Franklin Financial and Alan Burton of Ed Burton CPA for their assistance.
