Stephens County High School has announced the hiring of its new Head Athletic Trainer.

By Ethan Jordan

Last week, Stephens County High School’s Athletic Director Chuck King announced
that Tara Stevens will be the head of the athletic training program.

He says, quote, “Tara is going to be a great addition to the athletic programs of SCHS
and SCMS. This is a need we have been working towards for some time now and we
are excited to be fulfilling this mission. Tara has some great experience coupled with an
educational background in the areas of Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. This will
be a great fit for our needs and the student-athletes of Stephens County.”

Stevens has been employed with the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group since
October 2021 and has served in a couple of roles for NGPG.

Stevens will be moving locations from Jefferson High School, in Jefferson, to Stephens
County.

Prior to joining the NGPG, Stevens worked with the spring sports teams at the
University of North Georgia.

Stevens will remain employed through the NGPG; but her office will be located at
Stephens County High School.

King adds, quote, “Tara’s commitment to our higher standards will help build this new
position/program into a program that we can trust and take pride in service our
community. This program will be a huge addition to the health and welfare of our
student-athletes, schools, and community.”

Stevens tells WNEG News that she’s excited to have this opportunity to build a
successful Athletic Training program that will serve and support the Stephens County
High School community.

The full-time Athletic Training service is part of a partnership between Stephens County
Schools and NGPG.
