SCBOE will take official action on Wednesday, naming Oldham sole finalist for Superintendent

The Stephens County Board of Education will meet on Wednesday to take action, finalizing its recent announcement naming Deputy Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham as the sole finalist for the Stephens County Schools Superintendent position effective July 1, 2020.

State law mandates the Board of Education hold a 14-day public comment period prior to taking official action.

Since, the announcement was made in December, the 14-day public comment period has now passed; allowing the Board of Education to take official action during this called meeting.

During the December 11 meeting, Stephens County Schools current Superintendent Bryan Dorsey recommended the Board of Education transfer his position of Superintendent to Project Specialist for the duration of his contract effective June 30, 2020.

Following Dorsey’s recommendation, Board of Education Chairman Rod Moore recommended the board consider naming Oldham as the sole finalist for the Superintendent position.

Again, the Board of Education will meet on Wednesday, January 8, at 4:00 p.m. at the Stephens County School System office.

As always, the public is encouraged to attend.
