SCBOE approves 2020-2021 academic calendar

The Stephens County Board of Education approves the academic calendar for 2020-2021 school year.

Board of Education members unanimously approved the 180-day calendar at their meeting on Wednesday.

The calendar for next school year calls for 90 student days in each semester.

According to Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey, students will return to school on August 5, 2020, a later start than the current academic year when students returned on August 1.

A Fall Break is scheduled for October 7 and 8, 2020.

Stephens County School are also closed for a full week again at Thanksgiving in the 2020-2021 calendar.

The winter holiday for 2020-2021 is scheduled to run December 21, 2020 through January 1, 2021; however, January 4, is a teachers work day, so students will return from their winter break on January 5, 2021.

In the second semester, students will have President’s Day off on February 15.

Schools will be closed for a full week for a Spring Break from April 5 through 9, 2021.

The last day of school for students in the 2020-2021 academic calendar is May 20, 2021 with graduation for the 2020-2021 school year set for May 21, 2021.
