SCBC Approve Ambulance purchase

During Tuesday night’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, the commission voted to buy a new ambulance for the county.

Commissioner Dennis Bell asked Emergency Medical Services’ Director Aaron Wilkinson if this new ambulance would be added to the existing fleet or replace an older one.

Wilkinson replied the new ambulance will replace an older model.

Commissioner Dean Scarborough voted to accept a low bid from Custom Truck & Body Incorporated, out of Woodbury, Georgia, in the amount of $174,000, using the Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax or SPLOST funds, rather than using money from the general fund.

Bell seconded the vote.

The motioned passed 4-0; Commissioner Stanley London was absent.
