“Operation Watchful Eye” begins with 4 arrested

“Operation Watchful Eye” is in full swing, after the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and State Probation kicked off the statewide project on September 13.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, “Operation Watchful Eye” is an ongoing initiative where sex offender’s addresses will be verified.

Since its start, investigators and state probation officers checked on registered sex offenders that are currently on probation or parole and had fourth amendment waivers in hand.

According to Shirley, investigators and state probation officers, with fourth amendment waivers in hand, checked in on several registered sex offenders that are currently on probation or parole.

While checking and searching offenders, four sex offenders were arrested for either new criminal offenses or violating the conditions of their current release.

The following sex offenders were arrested:

• Thomas Spector Crawford, 84, of Hilltop Lane in Toccoa, was arrested and charged with probation violation;

• Johnny Richard Carter, 46, of Azalea Court in Toccoa, was arrested and charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and a parole violation;

• Christopher Alexander Green, 27, of Quarry Court in Toccoa, was arrested and charged with probation violation;

• Miguel Angel Ramirez, 25, of Celia Drive in Toccoa, was arrested and charged with probation violation.

Shirley tells WNEG News that all four individuals are being held at the Stephens County Jail without bond.

He adds that the “Operation Watchful Eye” campaign will continue for an undisclosed amount of time.
