NORTHEAST GEORGIA ANIMAL SHELTER TO REOPEN NEXT TUESDAY

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter has announced they will reopen next week after a forced quarantine due to an outbreak of parvovirus in a litter of puppies.

On May 17, Shelter Director Tammi Jourdenais announced the shelter had to close for two weeks because of a litter of puppies that were turned in and had parvo.

The Shelter was due to open this week, but Jourdenais said another litter that had been turned in also began to look sick.

And with so many dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens currently at the shelter, the need never stops for pet food and cleaning supplies.

Jourdenais said anyone who would like to donate to help the animals is welcome to stop by the shelter.

Jourdenais added that they do plan to be at the Jeep Fest this Saturday selling t-shirts and will have dogs there that are up for adoption.

The shelter is located on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia and again will re-open on Tuesday, June 11 at 11 a.m.

Anyone with questions can call the shelter at 706-356-5363.
