A Toccoa man has been named the new Vice President of Economic Development for North Georgia Technical College.

On Monday, North Georgia Tech President Dr. Mark A. Ivester announced Keith Powell is the new Vice President of Economic Development and Amy Hulsey as Vice President of Community and College Relations.

Powell joined NGTC in February of 2018 as Special Assistant to the President, conducting research and analysis to assist the college in decision-making and long range strategic planning.

Most recently, he retired from Goodwill of North Georgia, where he served as director of workforce development.

Powell and his wife Kay reside in Toccoa, Ga.

Hulsey joined the college staff in 2015 and previously served as the college’s director of public relations and information.

Hulsey has worked in public relations and graphic design for more than 20 years, and she earned a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Georgia and bachelor’s degree in music and economics from Agnes Scott College.

Hulsey is also the incoming chair of the Habersham Chamber of Commerce, serves on the board of directors for the United Way and the Habersham Medical Center Foundation and is vice president of the Habersham County Academic Booster Club.

“Keith has proven to be a valuable resource to the college with a wealth of experience in workforce development and in the manufacturing sector,” said Dr. Ivester. “He is very familiar with our service area as well as the industries and industry leaders within that area.

“Amy has a great understanding of how to use modern marketing technology to get our brand to our perspective students. She has a strong passion and desire for our local communities to prosper. I believe both Keith and Amy have a strong base of experience and knowledge will greatly benefit the college moving forward.”
