North Georgia Credit Union Warns of Phone Scam

Officials from North Georgia Credit Union recently contacted WNEG News asking that we help advise citizens that there has been recents occurrences of a scam in which individuals are spoofing the credit union’s phone number and contacting people through phone calls, texts and emails. 

According to information from North Georgia Credit Union, the scammers are posing as North Georgia Credit Union employees and are asking for personal information to complete fraudulent transactions. 

NGCU Vice President Laura Williams states, “It is very important that everyone remains vigilant and does not share personal information with unsolicited callers, texts, or emails.”

She advises everyone to not share any personal information over the phone, via text, or emails, stating “North Georgia Credit Union will never ask for your personal information, passwords, or online banking details in an unsolicited call, text, or email. If you receive a suspicious call, text, or email, do not respond. Contact us directly at any of our branches, and If you have elderly family and friends, please make them aware of this scam so that they do not provide any personal information to scammers.”
