Mr. Dewey William Snyder, Jr.

Mr. Dewey William Snyder, Jr., age 81 of Highview Road, Toccoa passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

A son of the late Dewey William Snyder, Sr. and Ila Mize Snyder, he was born January 7, 1943 in Stephens County, Georgia.  He was a 1961 graduate of Stephens County High School.  He married his high school sweetheart, Norma Davis in 1963.  He lived in the Atlanta, Lawrenceville, Lilburn and Buford area for many years.   He was a charter member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Lilburn.  He retired from General Motors in 1993 with 29 years of service at which time he moved back to Toccoa.  He later worked with Kautex in Lavonia for 12 years until retirement.

He loved hunting and fishing, having a garden and woodworking.  He and his wife spent several years touring the lower 48 states and Canada.  He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Davis Snyder of the home; children, Deborah Snyder Henson (Mark) of Toccoa, William Roy Snyder (Becky) of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Christopher N. Snyder (Shauna) of Toccoa and Douglas N. Snyder (Shanna) of Cornelia, Georgia; grandchildren, Matthew Henson, Alicia Patterson (Adam), Cole Snyder, Kaylin Snyder, Addie Snyder, Tonya Wooke, Garrett Snyder, Mason Snyder and Kaleb Kempton; great-grandchildren, Liam Blackledge, Bailey Henson, Kherington Patterson, Colton Patterson and Karelyn Snyder; sister, Martha Dodd (Bobby) of Lavonia, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Wooke.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 27, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Ricky McFarlin, Dr. William Bender and The Reverend Brandon Crunkleton officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Matthew Henson, Cole Snyder, Ryan Svetz, Miles Dodd, William Dodd and Andrew Svetz.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from 12 noon until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acreedavisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Old Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Dewey William Snyder, Jr.
