Kemp Wins Active Senior Award at Expo

The 2022 WNEG Senior Expo was held Thursday at the Stephens County Recreation Department’s Rose Lane Activity Center and Senior Center.

Approximately 350 people attended the four-hour event highlighted by the presentation of the Active Senior of the Year Award presented to Trudy Kemp.

Trudy volunteers at the Stephens County Senior Center almost every week, assisting with lunch and other activities. Trudy is also an active member of First Baptist Church of Toccoa, Currahee Quilters, and volunteers with Toccoa Life.

Trudy was emotional and excited to receive the award. “I feel very honored and loved, and I love all of my friends. Thank you so much for this.”

Trudy says volunteering is a gift that she loves to share. “I have one spiritual gift and it is called help and I try to use it. Thank you so much for everything.”

Trudy lives at Imperial Place Apartments and assists her neighbors whenever possible.

WNEG receives nominations throughout the year and presents the Active Senior of the Year each year at the Senior Expo.
