Homer Wreck Splits Car in Two, Leaves Drivers Injured

In Banks County, two people are being treated for their injuries after a bizarre two-car wreck.

It happened Monday morning in Homer, according to the Gainesville Post of the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers say just before 7:30a Monday, a 1999 Honda Civic was in the left-turn lane at the intersection of Highway 15 and Thompson Street and failed to yield for an oncoming 2016 Acura TLX.

Troopers say the driver of the Acura tried to avoid hitting the Honda but struck the Honda in the right side.

The impact split the Honda in two.

The driver of the Honda is identified as 56-year old Homa Rastegari of Athens.  Rastegari suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Piedmont Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Acrua is identified as 54-year old Elizabeth Young of Demorest.  Young also suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

No word on what, if any, charges will be filed.
