Georgia’s Lieutenant Governor Duncan attends annual Farm City Week Banquet

Local leaders hear from Georgia’s Lieutenant Governor at an annual banquet.

Geoff Duncan was the guest speaker at Tuesday’s annual Toccoa-Stephens County Farm City Week Banquet at First Baptist Church, in Toccoa.

Duncan spoke about the significant role that rural Georgia’s agriculture plays on the state and nation.

Stephens County Farm Bureau organizes the banquet each year.

Stephens County Farm Bureau Office Manager Dawn Jameson said she was pleased with the turnout at the banquet.

Stephens County Farm Bureau also handed out a number of special awards during the banquet on Tuesday.

Mark and Jennifer Smith were awarded the Farm Family of the Year.

Mark Aderholdt was awarded the Cattleman of the Year.

Dennis and Elaine Hornick were named the Friend of Agriculture.

The late Hoke Hayes was posthumously inducted into the Farm Bureau Hall of Fame.

Hayes’ family was recognized and accepted the award.
