Clarkesville woman arrested by the TPD following a traffic stop

The Toccoa Police Department recently arrested a Clarkesville woman following a traffic stop.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on April 15, while patrolling the area of Falls Road near Rock Quarry Road an Officer observed a White Kia exceeding the speed limit.

The officer then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Mize says the officer made contact with the driver, who was identified as 42-year-old Nora Brooke Jones, of Clarkesville.

While speaking with the officer, Jones appeared to be shaking and she was breathing heavily.

Consent was given to search the vehicle.

Mize says during the search, officers located two smoking pipes that appeared to have residue inside; they also found a small amount of a clear crystal-like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine.

Upon further investigation, Mize says, a pill bottle was located with another individual’s name on it.

Jones admitted that a broken pill in the bottle was hydrocodone and it had been given to her.

After the search was completed, Jones was placed under arrest.

Warrants were taken for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II substance, possession of drug related objects and drugs not in the original container.

Jones was transported to the Stephens County Jail.
