The city of Toccoa has had to close the Pond Street bridge in downtown until further notice. Authorities responded to an accident Sunday on the Toccoa By-pass. The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 106 and the Toccoa By-pass. Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley says that one person was life flighted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Abnormally dry conditions are back in much of northeast Georgia, including Stephens County. That is according to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor issued last week. The former WNEG-TV station is once again changing hands. Thursday, the University of Georgia announced it had entered into an agreement to sell WUGA-TV, formerly known as WNEG-TV, to Marquee Broadcasting of Brookeville, Maryland for $2.5 million.
