Bell elected Chairman of Stephens County Board of Commissioners

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners has elected its Chairman and Vice Chairman for calendar year 2020.

On Thursday, the board met in a special called meeting and appointed Commissioner Dennis Bell to Chairman and appointed Commissioner Debbie Whitlock to Vice Chairman.

Commissioner Dean Scarborough was the Chairman of the board for 2019, and Bell served as the Vice-Chair.

The Board of Commissioners reappointed Beth Rider to the role of County Clerk.

Bell thanked Rider for all of her hard work.

The Law Offices of Sanders, Ranck and Skilling was reappointed as County Attorney.

Commissioner James Addison thanked County Attorney Brian Ranck for continuing to serve as the attorney for Stephens County.

In other business, the Board of Commissioners set the time and place for work sessions and regular meetings for the 2020 calendar year.

The board will continue to hold meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, with the first meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 5:30 p.m.

In December 2020, the board will only meet once for the month on the second Tuesday in December at 8:30 a.m.
