Gaines and Thompson Named September “Spirit of Stephens” Award Winners

The “Spirit of Stephens” employees of the month were honored during
the September Stephens County Board of Education (BOE) meeting. Pictured left to

During the September 17, 2024, Stephens County Board of Education meeting, Crayton Gaines and April Thompson were named the September “Spirit of Stephens” award winners. Gaines serves the school system as an employee in the maintenance department, and Thompson is a kindergarten teacher at Big A Elementary School.

School and Community Engagement Director April James introduced the winners and read from their nominations at Tuesday’s meeting of the Board of Education, beginning with Gaines’ nomination.

Each month during the school year, the Stephens County School System honors employees with this award. Nominations are accepted from employees and to be eligible, employees must demonstrate a strong commitment to student success; encourage teamwork and assist other staff members; inspire others with a positive outlook and attitude; and perform job responsibilities consistently and professionally.
