Annual Red Rage Rally Introduces Fall Sport Athletes

The annual Stephens County High School Red Rage Pep Rally will be held tonight, August 8, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Stephens County High School football field. 

The annual event introduces Indian athletes as the school year and the Fall athletic season kicks off. Highlighting members of the Indians Football program, under Head Coach Wesley Tankersley, the Indian Spirit Cheerleaders for the football team, under coaches Haley Rider and Cathy Thornton, and the Stephens County Marching Band, under director Zach Towery and auxiliary members under the leadership of Kenzie and Tamara Cash, the event also serves as an introduction to all fall sports athletes.

Other sports active this fall include Competition Cheer under Head Coach Cathy Thornton, Cross Country under Head Coaches Ben Menard and Erin Fleming, Softball under the leadership of Kasey Ivey, Women’s Volleyball with Head Coach John LaFevers. 

While Red Rage introduces the Stephens County Indian athletes, other Stephens County athletes are also warming up for the fall season, with Stephens County Middle School also gearing up for competition.

Fall sports at Stephens County Middle School include Cheer under Jessica Thomas, Boys Cross Country under Blake Adams, Girls Cross Country under the leadership of Hagan Farmer, the Rebels Football program under head coach Matt Miller, The Lady Rebels Softball team under head coach Jeremy Stowe, and Volleyball with Head Coach Blake Lowe. 

Red Rage also serves as a second welcome to new Stephens County Athletic Director Eric Sutulovich. The Middle School Athletic Director is Paul Batchelor. 

The Indians football team will play at Winder-Barrow Friday night for their pre-season scrimmage against both Mountain View and Winder-Barrow.  WNEG will broadcast the scrimmage with airtime at 6:45 p.m.  Then the Indians will open up the season at home against Habersham Central on Friday, August 16th, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
