The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a head-on collision that injured four.

The Georgia State Patrol responded to an accident near the Habersham County/Stephens County line on Talmadge Drive.

According to a release issued by the Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred on June 15, around 12:25 p.m. after a 2006 Ford Mustang, driven by 43-year-old Joseph Lee Austin, of Toccoa, failed to maintain its lane and traveled into the path of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 72-year-old Virginia Allen Ramey, of Toccoa.

Austin’s vehicle struck Ramey’s vehicle head-on.

The wreck injured both drivers and two passengers in Austin’s vehicle.

The passengers are identified as 20-year-old John Michael Lumpkin and 77-year-old Jimmy McDonald, both of Clarkesville.

All four involved received serious non-life-threating injuries and three were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, and one was transported to Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa.
