Mr. Jerry Elrod

Mr. Jerry Brock Elrod, age 85, of Toccoa, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at his home.

 

Born May 5, 1935, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Clarence C. and Annie Bell Brock Elrod.

 

He was a member of Toms Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Vermont American.  Mr. Elrod was a United States Army Veteran serving in Germany.

 

Family members include his wife, Jewell Norris Elrod; sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Terri Elrod of Cornelia and Phillip Elrod of Gainesville; step-children, Steve McCurley. David and Pamela McCurley, and Sharon and Jeffrey Harper all of Danielsville; two aunts, Jean Frost of LaGrange and Helen Adams of Toccoa; brother-in-law, Buren Smith of Martin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Elrod Stowe and Peggy Elrod Stowe.

 

Funeral services will be held at three o’clock Thursday, January 14, 2021 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Wayne Marcus officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Georgia Army National Guard.

 

The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers; Drew McCurley, Dylan McCurley, Donnie Harper, Ethan McCurley, Austin Harper, and Jonah Bishop.

 

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 1pm until the service.

 

Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed.  Those attending the service are encouraged to wear a mask.
