DPH now reporting 623 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 623 positive cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County.

To date, there have been 12 individuals who died from complications of the virus.

The Department of Public Health is also reporting that Habersham County now has 49 fatalities due to the virus and 1,145 positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 4,289 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 838 tests have come back positive with 661 patients receiving positive results, 3,421 received negative results, and 30 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has six patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and five others who are hospitalized pending test results.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 406 cases and six deaths, Banks County has a total of 271 cases and four deaths, Rabun County has 215 cases and three deaths, and Hart County has 310 cases and seven deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 219,025 cases, of those, 20,676 have been hospitalized and 4,229 have died from complications of the virus.
