SCH reports 1 confirmed case of COVID-19

On Saturday, the Stephens County Hospital received confirmation from the Department of Public Health that a patient, who was tested for COVID-19 at the hospital, has tested positive for the virus.

For privacy reasons, the Stephens County Hospital cannot give specifics about the individual who tested positive for the virus.

But, according to officials with the hospital, the patient is being treated at the Stephens County Hospital.

According to a statement released on Saturday by hospital staff, the patient was identified prior to arrival at Stephens County Hospital and every precaution was taken to help ensure the safety of other patients and staff as the patient arrived for treatment.

The Department of Public Health is currently investigating the case and will notify any individual who they feel may have interacted with this individual prior to hospitalization and could be at potential risk for exposure.

Stephens County Emergency Management also stated the following earlier Saturday night, “The Department of Public Health website is reporting 3 positive cases for Stephens County. We have no further information.”
