Judge Irvin excuses anyone who is at risk for the Coronavirus from state court during March and April

Stephens County State Court Judge James Irvin has issued a temporary order in Stephens County to address the growing risk of the Coronavirus.

According Irvin, during the months of March and April, anyone requested to appear for state court will be excused, if such person is currently experiencing flu or flu-like symptoms; has experienced flu or flu-like symptoms within the last 30 days; has traveled to any country or other area of the United States with confirmed cases of COVID-19; has had any contact with any person quarantined due to COVID-19 concerns; or suspects having been exposed to COVID-19 in any way.

Irvin says bench warrants for a party’s failure to appear and driver’s license suspensions will not be issued during March and April.

If you are unable to attend court due to the aforementioned reasons, please contact Stephens County Clerk of Court Tim Quick by calling 706-886-3598 to let him know in advance.
