Woman indicted with 1 count of arson after catching vehicle on fire

A woman has been indicted on one count of arson in the second degree.

The Stephens County Grand Jury indicted Laquetta Shenay Sheard with one count of arson.

According to the indictment, the incident took place the morning of September 28, 2018.

Authorities say Sheard knowingly damaged a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe by setting the vehicle on fire.

The vehicle was located outside a residence on Estatohe Circle.

At the time of the incident, Toccoa Fire Department’s Assistant Fire Chief Frankie Dietz told WNEG News that heavy smoke and flames were showing from the vehicle upon the arrival of fire units.

The fire required assistance from both Shiloh and Carnes Creek fire departments.
