Funeral Services Set for Tuesday for 18-Year Old Killed in Friday’s Crash

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday for 18-year old Anna Whitlock, who was killed Friday morning in a fatal crash in Stephens County.

Whitlock was a freshman at Piedmont College and was on her way to class when the accident happened.

She is the daughter of Joey and Leigh Whitlock.  The Reverend Joey Whitlock is the Pastor of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church and a former member of Lavonia First Baptist Church.

The crash happened about 9a Friday morning at the intersection of Georgia Highways 106 and 320 near the Franklin/Stephens County line.

GSP, EMS, and Sheriff’s deputies from both counties responded.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Toccoa Post, a Chevy Silverado driven by 40-year old Amanda Phillips crossed the center line of Highway 106 and struck a Ford Fiesta driven by Whitlock head-on.

Stephens County Coroner Chris Stephens said Whitlock died at the scene.

Phillips was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A two-month old baby in the vehicle with Phillips was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.  The conditions of Phillips and the baby are not known.

Services for Anna will be held at 2p Tuesday at Toccoa Creek Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held this evening from 6p to 8p at Acree-Davis Funeral home.

Meantime, the Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the crash and said charges are pending.
