Indians enter State playoffs tonight in Cartersville

The Stephens County Indians will play in the first round of the state AAAA playoffs tonight as they travel to Cartersville to play the second ranked Purple Hurricanes.  Kickoff will be at 7:30.  Cartersville is the Region 5-AAAA champs with a perfect 10 & 0 record.  Stephens County is the number 4 seeded team from Region 8-AAAA. The Indians have an overall record of 5 & 5, and return to the state playoffs after missing last year, only the 2nd time in the last 23 years the Indians have not advanced to the playoffs.  Cartersville won the 2015 and 2016 state championship.  Stephens County last played the Purple Hurricanes in 2005, a 21 to 15 win.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s wide receivers and J-V coach, Greg McCall, said it will be a big challenge for the Indians, but being in the playoffs has an advantage for future Indian teams.
