First C.R.A.S.E. Scheduled for Tomorrow

The Toccoa Police Department in partnership with Georgia Department of Homeland Security, recently announced they would be hosting two active shooter trainings.

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.) are training programs developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training.

Events are open to all members of the community and there is no charge to attend the training.

Toccoa’s Interim Police Chief Jimmy Mize told WNEG News about the forthcoming trainings.

“The civilian response to active shooter training is open to the public and is free. It a great opportunity for churches and other organizations to learn how to respond during an active shooter situation, where ever it may be,” Mize said.

Churches, community groups and other organizations are strongly encouraged to attend.

Mize continued to explain that these active shooter trainings provide an awareness tool.

Mize added a precautionary statement, recommending that children do not attend.

Again, the trainings will be held on Tuesday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Wednesday, May 16, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Both trainings will be held in the Historic Ritz Theatre.
