School System Prayer Motorcade taking place Saturday

The Stephens County School system prayer motorcade is taking place this Saturday, July 29.

Geraldine Hayes, a bus monitor in the school system, helps put this event together and said that the motorcade was started by a previous middle school principal and it has continued for several years now.

“We just feel like it’s so important that the community come together and pray for our students, our faculty, our community as a whole,” said Hayes. “We’ll gather at 8 a.m. at the Board of Education office, and then we’ll travel to Toccoa Elementary at 8:15, we’ll be at Whitman Street Headstart at 8:30, Liberty Elementary at 8:35, 8:45 we’ll be at Big A Elementary, 9:05- Stephens County Middle School, 9:20- Stephens County High School and 9:30 we’ll end up at the bus shop. The time may vary depending on how many people are in the motorcade.”

Bradley Collins also works in the school system and is the family ministries pastor at Glad Tidings and he also helped plan the motorcade. He encourages everyone in the community to come out.

“The parents are welcome to come and join us, the students are welcome and encouraged to come and pray,” said Collins. “We do encourage the community to come out, be a part of what’s going on. We think it’s very vital to cover our schools in prayer before they start and even during the school year continue to. But this is a way to get our community together to come out and rally around our students and our teachers and staff. We’d love to have them all.”

Sheriff Randy Shirley will lead the motorcade and everyone will follow to each location where prayers will be conducted.
