Wilkinson Named to Trump Advisory Committee

50th District State Senator John Wilkinson is a member of one of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s advisory committees.

In a press release Tuesday, Trump named Wilkinson as one of the 65 men and women on the Agricultural Advisory Committee.

The Toccoa native currently serves as the Chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee in the Georgia State Senate.

Trump’s campaign said that the members of this committee are tasked with providing new ideas to strengthen the nation’s agricultural industry, as well as provide support to rural communities.

In a statement, Trump said members of his agricultural advisory committee represent the best that America can offer to help serve agricultural communities. He adds that many of these officials have been elected by their communities to solve the issues that impact our rural areas every day and goes on to say he is proud to stand with these men and women, and looks forward to serving those who serve all Americans from the White House.

Wilkinson is not the only Georgia representative on this advisory committee.

Joining him on the committee are former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and current Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black.
