Local officials gather to unveil a special exhibit at the historic train depot in downtown Toccoa.

The Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting on Thursday to mark the grand opening of the “Presidential Pathways” photo exhibit.

“Presidential Pathways” is being hosted by Main Street Toccoa and the Currahee Military Museum.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said they are excited to host this special exhibit.

There are 28 photos taken by longtime New York Times White House photographer George Tames, said Crosby.

“It is unusual because you see presidents in a different light, caught at candid moments, and it seems as if their personalities really come through,” said Crosby. “It really is a very interesting collection of photos.”

The exhibit is located in the Mitchell Allen Meeting Room at the historic train depot in downtown Toccoa and is free for the public to view.

It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The exhibit will remain in Toccoa through November 5.

Meanwhile, Currahee Military Museum officials say that on Saturday, people can visit the museum for free as part of Museum Day Live!, a promotion put on by Smithsonian Magazine, provided they download the voucher from the Museum Day Live! website.
