2 women injuried in accident near Memorial Drive

Two women sustained injuries in the three-vehicle accident that occurred last week on GA-17 at the intersection of Memorial Drive.

According to officials with the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened just after 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, when Matthew Aaron Howe, 28, of Toccoa, failed to yield to oncoming traffic while crossing GA-17.

Dawn Sheree Jameson, of Eastanollee, was traveling south on GA-17, when Howe’s 1999 Dodge Dakota struck the front passenger side of Jameson’s 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

After impact, Howe’s vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest in the southbound lane; whereas, Jameson’s vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest after striking a 2019 Honda CR-V EXL, driven by William C Drosky, 80, of Clarkesville.

Drosky had one passenger, identified as Mary Drosky, 75, of Clarkesville who sustained injuries in the crash.

Both Jameson and Mary Drosky were transported by the Stephens County EMS and taken to the Stephens County Hospital.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene.

Howe was issued a citation for failure to yield to the right-of-way.
