Two Arrested For Trafficking Meth in Stephens, Other Area Counties

Authorities said two people arrested in White County were involved in trafficking drugs throughout the region, including Stephens County.

Back on November 21, the White County Sheriff’s Office and agents of the North Georgia Regional Drug Enforcement Office executed a search warrant at a Georgia Highway 254 residence in Cleveland after a lengthy investigation.

At that time, agents said they seized trafficking amounts of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana packaged for distribution, and firearms.

Authorities arrested two people, identified as Johnny Russell Patton and Scotty Lynn Gooch, and charged them with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The North Georgia Regional Drug Enforcement Office said these two men and others are believed to be responsible for the distribution of more than 15 pounds of methamphetamine in Stephens, Habersham, White, and Lumpkin counties over a six month period earlier this year.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said it is a major arrest.

“We are excited to hear about those arrests and look forward to a good relationship with the North Georgia Drug Task Force that is based out of Cleveland, Georgia,” said Shirley.

Authorities said this particular investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
