TFC Baseball Falls in NCCAA World Series Pool Play

The 2015 baseball season for Toccoa Falls College comes to a close in pool play action at last week’s NCCAA World Series in Mason, Ohio.

TFC participated in its record seventh straight NCCAA World Series last Wednesday through Saturday.

Seeded eighth in the ten-team tournament, TFC was grouped with defending national champions and top-seeded Fresno Pacific, fourth-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic, fifth-seeded Central Baptist, and ninth-seeded Bluefield College.

The Screaming Eagles were eliminated with a 2-2 pool play record.

In its opening game, TFC drew Fresno Pacific and lost 8-0 on Wednesday.

However, the Screaming Eagles bounced back on Thursday and swept a doubleheader to stay alive.

Toccoa Falls beat Central Baptist, 7-0, and Bluefield College, 6-4, on Thursday.

That set up a “win and in” game against region foe Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday.

In that final pool play game, Palm Beach eliminated TFC by beating the Screaming Eagles by a 14-3 score.

The Screaming Eagles, who were the tournament’s lone participant that did not have an NCAA or NAIA dual affiliation and the only non-scholarship team in the event, finished the season 28-23.

Meanwhile, Fresno Pacific repeated as NCCAA World Series champions, beating Oklahoma Christian in Friday’s semi-finals and then beating Lee University in the Saturday championship game.
