Funeral Arrangements Set for Teen Killed in Bicycle Accident

Funeral arrangements are set for a Stephens County teen killed in a weekend accident.

Services for 13-year-old Dameon Malachi Roach of Toccoa will be on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church.

Roach passed away from injuries suffered this weekend when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.

It happened around 12:55 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the initial indication is that Roach was traveling east on North Hicks Road in his bicycle and traveled into the southbound lane of Nub Garland Road.

Troopers reported that 40-year-old Misty Dawn Robertson of Toccoa was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado south on Nub Garland Road.

The GSP went on to say that the bicycle pulled out into the path of the Silverado and struck the Silverado.

According to the report, Roach was ejected off of the bicycle and Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said the teen died later from injuries suffered in the accident.

There were no other injuries and the GSP said no charges are being filed against the driver of the vehicle.
